Sparkling Christmas Makeup!

Merry Christmas/Blessed Yule/Happy Holidays!  Normally I don't celebrate Christmas but we missed Winter Solstice (usually celebrated by eating tangyuan/glutinous rice dumplings) so my mom and older sister and I met up for Christmas Eve instead. I filmed the makeup I wore on that day!

This was my first time wearing loose glitter out and it lasted for the six hours or so that I wore it!  I have no glitter glue ^^;  But I made it work!  Check it out in the videos please!

December Lolita Meetup

Happy Holiday Season!!  Thank you for continuing to read my blog ^u^v  I hope you are all doing well.  Recently Doro and I met up for our December Lolita meetup, but were unable to go to an escape room (our original theme) due to lack of participants (everybody is so busy now!)

Instead we went to a cake buffet and a Snoopy pop-up exhibit outside a SOGO department store!

Bright Rainbow Makeup

Who loves bright colors?  And rainbows?  And other happy things?  I did a rainbow shironuri look on my Bigo live broadcast recently and decided to adapt it for a daily-wear style makeup!  This type of look would probably go well with fairy-kei, simple black and white Mode looks, or super colorful 6% Doki Doki/galaxxxy styles~

I have many ideas for rainbow makeup, but decided to start with the easiest.  Putting only three colors on each lid makes it easier to see the colors clearly and to blend them better.  I really want to try a rainbow cut crease as well!

Products used are linked in the YouTube descriptions of each video if you are curious!

Red x Gold Smokey Eye

Yesterday I went out with a friend to an art movie screening so I decided to film the makeup I wore!  I've been playing with different eyeshadow patterns and this one has a more open inner eye and eyelid area.

Sailor Moon Pop-up Exhibit and Shop

After our Wa Lolita meetup, Doro, Laina, and I passed by a poster advertising a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon pop-up exhibit and shop!  Since it was right by the MRT station we needed to go to, we decided to visit!

Smokey Spotlight Eye Makeup Tutorial

I'm back with a quick eye makeup video!  This time it is for a smokey spotlight eye look ^u^
The center color (Arachne by Apocalyptic Cosmetics) did not stick well to the base, so if you have this color (from the Spider Queen Look of the Month subscription) I'd suggest a concealer base added before patting the color on top.

The YouTube descriptions have all the products listed if you want to know more details!

I'd like to try more eyeshadow and makeup looks in general :3  If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know! I'm not sure where to look for inspiration since I haven't been using Pinterest any more (should I just get back on there??)

Thank you for reading!

Wa Lolita Meetup

November's meetup theme was Wa Lolita!

Me, Laina, Doro
We went to Steam E;den again (previously) because they had their one-year anniversary special and the food is yummy!
Blouse: Little Dipper
JSK: Meta
Petti: Fantasy Land
Socks: BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT
Shoes: Vivienne Westwood Algonquins X melissa
I split meals and desserts with Doro!  It came out to NT$390 for each of us, so it was a pretty good deal to get to try two meals and two desserts (half each)
Mintaiko Wasabi Pasta with Fried Fish

Shrimp Cream Cheese Omelette

Pumpkin Mousse Cake (seasonal), Heart Lock, Chocolate Clock Cake
I wanted the book crepe cake but they forgot my order and then it was sold out T^T  So I had to change to a different order...  I got the seasonal pumpkin dessert, but it really wasn't very good.
Upstairs

On Doro: yukata, SK from Little Dipper
On Laina: Jacket from Qutie Frash, KC and JSK from Alice and the Pirates

On our way to an old Japanese-style building (now restored and running several different businesses inside like an ice shop, a hair salon, a nail salon, and a small eatery) we passed by this totally cute Unicone shop!  They put shaped cookies on ice cream!
Also the decoration outside is just so cute
I forgot to take photos inside the old building, but it was pretty dark and cramped as this is an original building I believe!

We just had some tea and chats!  The best type of meetup!

Then we were headed to the MRT station when I spotted a Sailor Moon pop-up exhibition/shop poster... but that is for another post ^_~

Cyndaquil//Pokemon Makeup

I am back with another Youtube video!  I did this look for this month's Pokemon GO Community Day ^u^v

ECONECO in Taipei again!

On Nov. 11 Tokyo pastel colors artist ECONECO came to Taipei again!  Of course I went to see her with my good friend Doro ^u^v
Me, ECONECO, Doro
This time the shop was a part of a larger Japan display event (mostly food) at 新光三越 close to Taipei 101.  I wore my BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT yellow kumakumyachan JSK and headbow set!  And brought Taiwan Teddy in her Pikachu outfit.
Doro got a tote and ECONECO drew a squirrel (Lulu) on the back!  She asked what Doro wanted Lulu to be eating and I suggested the star-shaped crackers hairpin she was wearing so Lulu is eating a star cracker!
I bought a couple folding mirrors because they are really handy to carry in a handbag!  There was no Lulu design available, so I bought the hedgehog and Unita the unicorn instead.
The pouch was a gift with purchase that Doro got and gave to me!
ECONECO gave me a postcard as well because she remembered that I was there at both the other times she came to Taipei *u*

If you like detailed pastel artworks, be sure to follow ECONECO on instagram!  I think there is also an ECONECO cafe now :o  I want to go there in the future!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any favorite artists to share, please share them in the comments below!  My other favorite artist is Yoh of Yoh's Monochrome World.  It's a completely different style, but you should look him up if you like Gothic artwork and very detailed linework!

Personal Update

Recently returned from a three-week vacation to Minnesota.  I may not be posting for a while while I try to get my life back in order ^u^;;

Instead, have a photo of our October Lolita meetup where we played the Alice in Wonderland card game Parade and ate hotpot and pizza!
Laina, DORO, Violet (Taiwan Teddy), and me
I had a lot of fun in MN, saw many friends, did many things, but also realized that I really have no purpose in life and want to sort that out, hopefully.

Thanks to everybody who has been following and reading my blog! Maybe I'll be back

STEAM E;DEN Lolita Meetup

On Sunday I went to a newly-opened steampunk-themed cafe called Steam E;den with Doro for our September Lolita meetup!  It's been a popular location with lolitas, and you can see photos on their facebook page!

The inside is very well-decorated!

Chinese Lolita Meetup! Qi/Han Lolita Style

Yesterday was our belated August Lolita Meetup with the theme of "Chinese Lolita"! Inspired by qipao or hanfu, we met two new friends and had a lot of fun!
Hair, JSK: handmade by me
Petticoat: Fantasyland (on taobao)
We went to traditional-theme restaurant and got our own room inside!  The restaurant is actually located within a night market that is close to where I live now, so I walked there ^u^v

Chinese Style Hair Tutorial

In preparation for this month's Lolita meetup, I've been doing a bit of history and also just watching historic cosplayers' tutorials.  Many hairstyles require false hair bits (I've used those before in my dance troupe for performances) but I found one that could work for Lolita fashion.  I've worn my hair is similar ways before, but this time I loop the tail end of the twintails back to be more historically accurate (and cute!).  I braided my hair as it the texture holds the shape better, but the historic cosplayer I saw did the hairstyle without braiding it, so mine is a modern take.
You can't even see the buns because my hair accessories are so large
I also made video tutorials for this style!  There are two ways to do it depending on how long your hair is ^u^  Currently my hair is only medium-long so I do it the "cheating" way

Paperless Flyers

Last year I made a post about using Paperless Post to send event invitations, and now they have a new function I just used: Flyers!  It didn't appear to cost me any coins to share my flyer via facebook, either.  I'm working with Paperless Post again to share this information with you (non-sponsored) if you are environmentally conscious but still like "official" invitations and flyers.

The flyer was very simple to make and can even have animated text, which we obviously cannot do on traditional paper flyers.

Personally I love invites and flyers as they seem more creative and personal than the general "facebook event" where many people don't RSVP or respond with the dreaded "maybe."

Simple Lolita Makeup for the Lolita Market

Yesterday there was another lolita market! I made better sales this time for some reason - better than any I'd previously done.  I filmed my makeup process but because I was trying something new, the footage did not come out as well as I'd have liked.

Fairytale Meetup

On the 14th we had our July Lolita Meetup (and oh goodness was it hot!) with the theme of fairytale/children's stories. Only Doro and I showed, and we both chose Alice in Wonderland as our story!

Small meetups are nice because you can chat more, so we had some yummy food and lots of chatting, and then went to buy drinks from a tea shop and look at UV protection items for Doro's mom.

I've recently made several purchases from a website called RoseGal, which sells a LOT of Plus Sizes and offers free worldwide shipping on everything!

You can also check-in daily to get R points which can be used towards your purchases or at the Points Store to buy the clothing at an even more affordable price!  So here are some of the things I've purchased (I didn't have photos of everything) and why I signed up to be an affiliate

Sharing some online cashback

Here is a quick and unrelated post for those of us who are addicted to shopping online!  I've been testing out this website and extension for about four months now to make sure that it is legit, and it is!

I'm sure some of you have heard of Ebates, but if you haven't and you shop online, definitely sign up now, especially if you live in the USA!  Most of Ebates stores are in the US but there are some that ship worldwide too, such as eBay and Aliexpress, where I have been shopping.

To make a quick introduction, Ebates is like the cashback on credit cards, except this is for online shopping.  Before you go make a purchase at Sephora or eBay or Amazon, you can check the Ebates website to see what percentage cashback offer there is.  If you sign up using my link, you will also get a bonus US$10 when you make your first qualifying purchase.  I signed up through a Youtuber's link and yes, I DID get the bonus US$10!  I will get a bonus US$25 for each person using my link and making a purchase so if you'd rather not get the $10/give me $25 you can just google "Ebates" and sign up on your own.

Fairy-kei Photoshoot

A short while ago I met a photographer at a festival event, and he wanted to do a colorful photoshoot.  Since the outfit was just my daily wear, I tried to do more with my hair and makeup.  I quite like the way the photos turned out!  Here are a few of them (the rest that I posted are on my facebook)

All Red All the Time

On Saturday we had our May Lolita Meetup where the theme was "red only."  I only have one red dress from BTSSB but I love it a lot so I was happy to wear it again!

Sleeping in my bed of flowers
We went to a cool restaurant and sat in the Alice in Wonderland section.  There was no time limit to how long we could stay (rare in Taipei area) so we were there for a long time!!  No pressure to eat and get out; just chat a lot!

Cybergoth Photoshoot + Industrial Dance

On the 28th I did a photoshoot with Images by Kenny with the theme of Cybergoth.  I got to practice my styling skills on neco (her photos are all photoshopped much thinner though, which is NOT something I promote.  Love yourself the way you are!)
We found some neat areas at Ximending, a youth shopping district

Smokey Silver Gothic Lolita Makeup Tutorial

I haven't been able to make custom thumbnails because after my laptop was reset I lost my Photoshop T^T  So I just have to pick the least derpy looking screenshot that Youtube offers!

Lolita Fashion Photoshoot and Fashion Show Market

On April 14th we had another market event in combination with a fashion show and photography booths.  What made this different (apart from the combination of events) was that there were sponsors!!

There was an uber-like sponsor that took us from the MRT station to the location free of charge, which was a great relief as many of us had lots of stuff to carry.

I went with a Gothic Lolita theme this time!
Also a bit vampire ^_~
JSK by h.NAOTO FRILL

My booth
This was my first ever attempt at a smokey eye look, and I looked up lots of tutorials before doing it.  I think I did a good job for my first try *pats self on back*

Originally I was splitting a booth, but my partner dropped out so the sales I made pretty much only made me break even when factoring in cost of transportation and the vendors' fee T^T
Taiwan Teddy helping me out
My photos from the fashion show suck, so have a group photo by the official photographer instead!
Group Photo which I declined to join

I am happy with this look so here's one more photo taken after I got home.  Skindinavia setting spray keeps everything in place so well!

EDIT: Official Fashion Show Video is UP

Chocolate Models Meetup

Rilakkuma Cha Ya!!!
nom nom nom
On April 8 we had our chocolate model meetup as well as a ceremony for Laina's baby girl (three-month anniversary).  She had special-ordered cookies that were insanely adorable!!

Absolutely adorable!
